Paola Matte is Professor of Public Policy and Political Science at the Department of Social and Political Sciences, University of Milan, Italy. She is the Director of the Evidence-Based Policy and Research Action Hub (EPRAHub) at the University of Milan (www.eprahub.eu). She is Executive Editor of the European Journal of Educational Research. She is Member of the Working Group on Academic Freedom at the Council of Europe. Her research has two main streams: a) organisational and management reforms in public services, public accountability mechanisms, and citizens’ engagement policies; b) globalization and education policies. Underlying her research is the problematic relationship between accountability, democracy, and public services’ reforms associated with managerialism and privatisation of education policy-making. She has recently published a monograph on Democratising Science (Bristol University Press, 2023), and the Oxford Handbook of Education and Globalization (Oxford University Press, 2024).
